Attractive promos, a smash hit title track, a huge multi cast, and hilariously comic promos topped with dollops of sex appeal-the scene was set for a comic explosion...does NO ENTRY live upto expectations? YES-the movie succeeds but does have its fair share of flaws.

The story revolves around three friends.....Kishen(Anil Kapoor) a faithfully married man whose suspicious wife Kaajal(Lara Dutta) is always on his case and suspects him of having an affair.

Prem (Salman Khan) is a shameless womaniser and playboy whose wife Pooja(Esha Deol) trusts him with all her heart and soul and he takes full advantage of it.

Lastly Sunny(Fardeen Khan) a happy-go-lucky type who is about to marry the girl of his dreams Sanjana(Celina Jaitley) and leave his bachelorhood.

The story takes a twist when Prem strikes a bet with a gorgeous club dancer Bobby (Bipasha Basu) to seduce the 'scaredy" Kishen and taste the forbidden fruit.

Just as Kishen and Bobby are about to get their groove on Kaajal walks in. End of story? Far from it! A nervous Kaajal convinces Kaajal that Bobby is Sunnys wife..and to save his own bacon Sunny convinces Sanjana that Bobby is Kishens wife! Here begins a zany, whacky and thoroughly hilarious comedy that will have the viewer laughing from begining to end.

As a writer Bazmee comes up with a story that defies logic but is totally enjoyable. The film is laced with gags that leave the viewer in splits and is filled with twists and turns which keep the viewers interest alive through. The comic situations that arise in the film aren't entirely orignal but they are fresh. Given that Bazmee has for years written stories for comedy king David Dhawan including Smash Hits like AANKHEN, RAJA BABU, DEEWANA MASTANA, and MUJHSE SHAADI KAROGI his experience certainly shows here. The comparisons to last years hit MASTI are no doubt there, but despite having similar themes about men cheating on their wives the films are diversely different and don't have many similarities. Where MASTI was a SEX COMEDY, NO ENTRY is a clean, family film which is low on the sex jokes.

In terms of a screenplay Bazmee the film is good but has its share of flaews. One wishes that the film didn't have a number of subplots which slow the films story down and drags it in certain moments. One wishes that the scenes involving the scandalous Minister(Boman Irani) had not been incorporated. But the overall impact of the film is not diluted by these scenes.

As a director Anees Bazmee has so far directed the romance PYAAR TO HONA HI THA and the action packed thriller DEEWANGEE, but this is his first attempt at the comedy genre which is surprising given his track record as a writer. But the results are magnificent. Bazmee shows that he has complete control over the genre right from the very first frame. In order to make a successful comedy the director must 1) Have the right story/theme, 2) Have a certain amount of freshness to the gags, 3) Have a cast that can pull off the comic scene with ease and have a natural flair for comedy and lastly 4) Dialogues that leave the viewer in splits...and NO ENTRY succeeds in all four terrorities. The film will no doubt remind the viewer of the countless "two wive Govinda" films like SAAJAN CHALE SASURAL with the right amount of zany male bonding like DEEWANA MASTANA. Bazmee completely understands the genre and although it would've been easy for him to becomea Dhawan clone he manages to leave his own touch throughout. If DEEWANA MASTANA was a tribute to the late Manmohan Desai for its Masala Madness then NO ENTRY follows in the same tradition. The film is a clean family entertainer. Bazmee is next making a hardcore thriller BENAAM, yet again changing genres and proving his versatility...hats off Mr Bazmee.

In terms of performances the film is a winner.

Anil Kapoor as Kishen delivers one of the craziest and zaniest performances of his entire career and is EXCELENT. After a Award Winning act in last weeks serious and sombre MY WIFES MURDER, he again delivers a winning performance here. Kapoors comic timing is no doubt emmaculate and he again reaffirms the fact that he is one of Bollywoods most talented actors and truly a gem. The amount of energy, zest and positive energy Anil Kapoor brings to the movie must be applauded and given the fact the movie is a multi starrer Kapoor manages to hold his own and comes out flying colours.

Salman Khan as Prem too is fantastic in a role that is tailormade for him. Khan is cast in a role(that of a playboy) that fits him like a glove and he is charmingly confident as ever. The chemistry and vibes he shares with Anil Kapoor is fantastic and reminds one of the BIWI NO.1 days. But where BIWI NO.1 was a out and out Salman starrer with Anil supporting, here the film is an out and out Anil starrer as Salmans footage is minimum. He is there in the first half, but his portions post interval are minimum only to make an appearence in the last 20 minutes of the film. NO ENTRY is another feather in Salman Khans cap after LUCKY and MAINE PYAAR KYUN KIYA.

Fardeen Khan is a revelation! The actor who to date has yet to impress on the acting front delivers a performance that takes the viewer by surprise. Although his portions are just OK in the first half, its the second half where Fardeen strikes the viewer with a convincing and confident performance. Comedy is NOT an easy genre to excel in and Khan manages to strike the right comic chord with the viewer. His goofy facial expressions and tongue-in-cheek one liners hit the spot. The entire marriage sequence as well as the resort sequence Khan dominates the show hand-in-hand with Anil Kapoor. Given that Anil and Salman are already established in the genre Fardeen still manages to hold his own which is a compliment on its own!

Bipasha Basu as Bobby is absoltely SIZZLING. Its been a long time since Bipasha Basu has looked so damn delicious and she doesn't disapoint the viewer in the looks department and suits her role aptly. The alluring eyes, the long smooth legs, and the tight curves have never looked better. Even in the acting department Basu plays her part well and exudes confidence. One just wishes that Bazmee hadn't added a sentimental touch to her character without explaining it properly which takes away from her character rather than adding.

Lara Dutta delivers the best performance of her short career and is a surprise packet in the movie. I have found Lara either annoying or wooden in all her films to date but here she is extremely efficient as a suspicious wife and plays her part to perfection. She is a total natural in the comic scenes and her delivery and facial expressions are spot on. Dutta too looks beautiful throughout.

Esha Deol is is given minimum footage and fails to leave a mark. Her role is under written and Esha isn't given many scenes here at all. She looks nice and cute, but those expecting a skin show like DHOOM will be disapointed.

Celina Jaitley is good in her part. Although she fails to impress in the first half, its the second half that you start to like her. She grows on you as the film progresses and impresses. And yes--she looks DAMN sexy throughout with her tight curves and killer body.

The supporting cast don't have much to do.

Boman Irani is a disapointment here and one wishes that he doesn't take inconsequential comic roles like this and concentrates more on plum roles like MUNNABHAI MBBS and MY WIFES MURDER.

Pratima Kazmi, Razzak Khan and Dinesh Hingoo play their parts as expected and are good.

A film like NO ENTRY needed every song to be a blockbuster-but sadly despite the Title Track which is OFF THE HOOK the rest of the songs fail to become a hit although they are well picturised.

The amount of energy and zest that is in the title track is brilliant and the song is a INSTANT HIT. Salman and Bipasha completely sizzle on screen and the crowds were loving it.

JUST LOVE ME is a typical Salman Khan number keeping in mind his female fans.

ISHQ MEIN is well picturised and Celina Jaitley is pure eye candy here.

KAHAN HO TUM and DIL TO DIL HAI fit in well with the movie and the dances (Raju Sundaram and Vaibhavi Merchant) are great.

The dialogues in the movie deserve a special mention as they are brilliant throughout laced with hilarious pop culture references although one wishes all the 9/11 and WTC references weren't there as they come across in bad vein.

Technically the film is has a slick and glossy look throughout.Ashok Mehtas camerawork is superb and the locales of Mauritius have been superbly captured.

Sanjay Sanklas editting could've been tighter and one feels that the film could've done with a chop to fasten the pace in certain places.

All up NO ENTRY succeeds in being an all out entertainer and manages to keep the viewer laughing through. Like MAIN HOON NA, MUJHSE SHAADI KAROGI, HULCHUL, KYA KOOL HAI HUM and MAINE PYAAR KYUN KIYA the film is one that requires the viewer to keep their thinking caps switched OFF. Sit back....relax...and enjoy the ride! PAISA VASOOL!

Final Rating: * * * ¾
