'Bluffmaster!' a hit in U.S., Aamir and Shah Rukh together
By Raj Giri | December 30, 2005
'Bluffmaster!' a hit in U.S., Aamir and Shah Rukh togetherDespite having just an above average opening in the U.S., Bluffmaster! actually raked in more money in its second week than the first week. Traditionally Hindi films drop about 50% in their second week. The film went up by about 10 per cent in its second weekend in nearly 50 theatres in North America and has earned $400,000 in 10 days. This is Abhishek Bachchan's first solo success in the U.S., and may come close to reaching the $ 1 million mark in the U.S. In the U.K., however, the film isn't quite as strong. While it remains in the Top 10 in the U.K. for the second straight week dropping from the ninth position to the tenth, it dropped over 60% from the first week, earning $50,000 for a total of $300,000. Meanwhile, while Dosti - Friends Forever opened to poor reviews, it opened in the Number 5 position in the U.K. where Akshay Kumar is finding a new wave of popularity. The Suneel Darshan movie grossed about $250,000. Figures for the U.S. are not yet available. For all recent news and reviews for Dosti - Friends Forever!, click here.

Producer Bobby Bedi, who worked with Aamir Khan in the big budget Mangal Pandey, is thinking about making his next film on the Mahabharata, to be directed by Mani Ratnam. Also, apparently Bedi is looking to cast both Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan for the first time in the film.

While Bedi has confirmed that he spoke to both about the film awhile ago, neither have officially signed on as of yet.
