It seems there is a popular misconception about Ishaa Koppikar's character, Anita, in the new Don is that she was not in the original version. With the thought that she is is a new introduction to the story.

However, it seems Ishaa's character in the modern adaptation of Don was indeed in the original Don but went unnoticed by most as it was a very small part. Subsequently, director Farhan Akhtar rewrote and increased it.

When asked, Farhan confirmed, "There's a character in the original, which is the character of Don's girlfriend. She had a very minor part in the film; in fact she has barely two scenes and is standing on the side in one of the songs looking jealous. But Ishaa's character in the new version has been substantially developed and when you watch the film, you'll find out yourself!"
