Mumbai: Beauty queen, Aishwarya Rai, turned 33 on Wednesday and for a change, she was in Mumbai on her birthday to celebrate, unlike the past few years.Ash celebrated her birthday by spending time with her family and after a visit to a temple, with a special midnight screening of her latest film, Umrao Jaan.
"Aishwarya ushered in her birthday at midnight with a screening of Umrao Jaan organised by the film's director J.P. Dutta and was thrilled to watch the results of six months of hard work," Ash's business manager Hari Singh said.
On Wednesday morning, Ash and her family visited Siddhivinayak temple, then spent the day attending to phone calls, SMS and e-mail messages from her friends, relatives and hordes of fans, Singh reported.
"Since she has not been in the city on her birthday for the past few years, she is making the most of it and spending time with her family," he added.
After a lengthy absence from the public eye, Ash has been making the rounds, promoting Umrao Jaan to be released on Friday. She essays the lead role, opposite Abhishek Bachchan.
While the film is highly anticipated, endless media speculation and unfounded hearsay that Ash and Abhishek are an item in real life, and per latest rumours, will be tying the knot has heightened the furvour for the films release.
In the past year, Aishwarya has released two international films -- Mistress Of Spices and Jagmohan Mundhra's Provoked.
Additionally, Ash has several high profile releases in the coming months, including Dhoom 2 and The Last Legion, in which she stars with Ben Kingsley and Colin Firth in this epic drama set during the end of the Roman empire.
