Just as he gets permission by a court in Jodhpur to travel abroad for a film shoot, the trial for the hit-and-run case involving Salman Khan is set to resume from 8 November in a Mumbai court after the concerned magistrate expressed concern over the delay in the examination of witnesses by the prosecution.Observing that prosecution has taken a substantial amount of time to examine witnesses in the case, additional chief metropolitan magistrate DA Joshi decided to conduct the trial in the post lunch session every Wednesday from November 8.
The prosecution has examined only five of the 64 witnesses listed on the chargesheet; at that, in a span of three years, from October 2003 to October 2006.
"In view of the large number of witnesses and considering the time taken by the prosecution for examining five witnesses it appears that the trial would not come to an end at least for next three years minimum," the magistrate noted in his last order.
The next witness to be deposed on 8 November will be from among the four who were injured when the actor's car was driven on to the pavement and rammed into a bakery in suburban Bandra on 28 September, 2002, killing one person and seriously injuring four others.
