Shah Rukh Khan isn’t one who remains in the wings for too long. The megastar had a low-key year in 2005, only one release last year, Paheli. However, for 2006 he is returning to screens in classic Shah Rukh Khan fashion, bigger than life and twice a fantastic.
Later in the year we will see him in Karan Johar’s “Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna”, but first King Khan will be seen on the small screen in plenty of ads for the many products he endorses.
But in the meantime, his Compaq ads, shot by Pradeep Sarkar, are currently running on television, Shah Rukh is also seen promoting “the world’s smallest air-conditioner”. Before you begin trying to envision what new gadget King Khan, self-confessed technophile, may be into now, let it be said that the product in question is Navratna Cool Talc, an extension of the Emami brand Navratna.
In the ad, shot by Prahlad Kakkar, Shah Rukh’s support team follows him about on the sets with an air-conditioner in an attempt keep the star cool between shots. When the entire process becomes too cumbersome, SRK discovers Navratna Cool Talc.
He is reportedly soon to be seen on the small screens of America, as ITC’s Sunfeast range of biscuits is launching in the states.
He has also become brand ambassador for ICICI and can be seen in their ads, which include ads on the Internet, yet another small screen where the King can reign.
Beyond his small screen commitments, Shah Rukh is scheduled to begin shooting for Shimit Amin’s Yashraj film, “Chak De”, a role that will have him playing the coach of a girl’s hockey team.
There are many who will be breathing a sigh of relief and saying, “Welcome Back Shah Rukh, you were missed!”
