"Please find me a producer who will shoot an entire film in India": Zinta
By Krishna Jewel | May 10, 2006
Bangkok: A bit road weary, Preity Zinta pleads, "Please find me a producer who will shoot an entire film in India. I seem to be shooting abroad all the time," says Preity who is currently in Bangkok shooting for a shampoo ad. Zinta, who has just returned from a world tour, will rush to Mumbai mid-May and then head for Cannes with buddy Karan Johar.

Zinta is excited about Cannes and says, "I'm excited about Cannes because I'm going with one of my most entertaining friends who, by the way knows French better than the French, so I needn't fear misinterpretation. I hope to catch The Da Vinci Code there. But Karan and I are looking mainly at projecting our film Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna."

Speaking about Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (KANK) she says, "Mr. Bachchan and Shah Rukh need no endorsement from me. Rani is a rock star. But it is Abhishek who takes the cake. I truly feel that Abhishek is the star of tomorrow. Me? I never like myself on screen. But I must say KANK has projected my look differently. I play this cold woman which wasn't easy for a warm person like me to do."

She will once again be paired with Abhishek Bachchan in Shaad Ali's Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom. "Again to be shot abroad. Groan groan," she says. "We start the film in August and wrap it up by October. I guess it will be released early next year. So I've three releases KANK, Shirish Kunder's Jaan-e-Man and then Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom in the next six months. Wow! And to think that I had only one release Salaam Namaste since Veer-Zaara. That's because I completely withdrew, stopped signing films and began to look at my life in a different way after being caught by the Tsunami. For almost eight months I stopped working. Hence, the long gap between Veer-Zaara and Salaam Namaste…Tsunami made me question my priorities and made me value what I have. I wrote down all the things that I had in life to be grateful about. And it was quite a long list! Today, I have a great career, my mom is a rock star and my personal life couldn't get any better, touch wood. I can shop ‘til I drop and I can visit any part of the world. Earlier there would be a problem with Kareena, or whoever, but I like all my co-stars now."

Preity has never felt better. "People can say whatever they want to, about my life and career. I couldn't have hoped for more. I work out regularly, have started doing yoga and I'm doing the work I like," she says. When asked about marriage, "If the media is so interested in my marriage, they should get together to fund my wedding!" she retorts.
