Bachchan To be Airred In PakistanMUMBAI: Indian superstar Amitabh Bachchan will be featured in a sequence of Hindi films to be shown on Pakistani television during the month of May, as New Delhi and Islamabad mix diplomacy with culture to stimulate a flagging peace process.

Last month, Pakistan relaxed a 40-year ban on Indian films and allowed the screening of two Hindi cinema pictures.

Now, ARY Digital Network, a private television channel, has organised a broadcasting of Bachchan films to be aired from May 13, Festival of Amitabh Bachchan.

"He is the biggest film star of our times and is loved by fans and audiences globally," Salman Iqbal, ARY president, said in a statement on Friday. "This is another step to help open more avenues to bridge gaps between the two countries."

Amitabh Bachchan, who has appeared in over 150 films, told Reuters in an interview last month that he welcomed the screening of Indian films in Pakistan. "We do believe we are the same culture, the same people. We are divided by a line that has put us into two different nations" he said.
