KANK is 'me all grown up'
By Krishna Jewel | June 11, 2006
KANK is 'me all grown up' Rather than looking harried and hassled over the post-production work of his film, Karan Johar looks relaxed in his Khar office. The walls of his office are adorned with posters of Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (colloquially known as KANK), featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherji and Preity Zinta.

The film, which examines marriage and infidelity, is set for an August 11 release, however a big song featuring the entire cast is still pending and slatted to be shot in July.

Johar left for London on Thursday, for the June 12 launch the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy music of KANK. "Shah Rukh is there on vacation with his family, so he will be present at the music launch," said Johar. "I will fly directly to Dubai from there for IIFA where the music of my film will be launched on June 16," he added. He will be joined by Preity,Rani, Amitabh and Abhishek (who, incidently, play father and son in the film).

Something Johar is quite excited about is that Sony Music will be selling CDs of KANK in India for just Rs 99. Johar, who describes KANK as "me all grown up", says of the five tracks and one remix, the title track and Mitwa are his favourites.

Judging by the promos of KANK, it appears to be a much deeper, pehaps one could say heavier, film, sans what some see as the over - romaticsied aspects associated with a Johar film, the very traits that so many have embraced wholeheartedly and made him so much money. Johar says regarding the difference, "With K3G, my intention was to make a big film, but now my intention was to make a good film. So the stars have to come across as their characters."

No matter the style Karan Johar has chosen to use, it can be certain the film will certainly make us think and will be another blockbuster.
