Mumbai: On Monday night, Esha Deol sent everyone at the music launch of Zayed Khan's forthcoming film, Rocky, into a tizzy. The reason? She is now sporting a couple of permanent tattoos on her back.

The actress now has the Gayatri mantra tattooed on her right shoulder and a shaded Om on the left.

"It wasn't planned at all, but I've always been very spiritual and I've been chanting the Gayatri mantra since I was a child. I'd been thinking of getting a tattoo for a long time but it just never happened till now," says Esha.

"I got it done at Funky Monkey, Bandra in April, just before my Rockstars tour. It took me 1 hour," Esha was quoted.

Ronni Froberg at Funky Monkey did both tattoos, "I designed the Om, which is shaded blue and we downloaded the Gayatri mantra from the net to get the spelling and font right," recalls Froberg.

Esha had previously visited Funky Monkey with a tattoo in mind. "Hair stylist Peri Patel had got Esha here about two years ago, but she couldn't decide on any designs. A month ago, Esha came in alone and she knew exactly what she wanted tattooed."

Esha now joins the ranks of other celebs that are sporting a tat, the list includes Sanjay Dutt, Apoorva Lakhia and Urmila Matondkar.

And you thought Esha Deol is just a glamour girl!
