Superstar Amitabh Bachchan could not speak the Bhojpuri language when he arrived on the sets of his maiden Bhojpuri film Ganga in which he plays a major role. The film is produced by his make-up man of more than 35 years, Deepak Sawant.In Mumbai recently, Bachchan released the music of the film. Speaking on the occasion, Bachchan was modesty personified when he said, "This is a serious language. I did not know it, but people on the sets helped me."
Bhojpuri star, Ravi Kishen, who addresses Bachchan as "Bhagwan" said, "Right now, my legs are trembling. Bhagwan has done a huge favour to us by doing this film. As to what I learnt from acting with him? He was an obedient student on the sets. When I saw his honesty towards his work, I regretted why I lacked it."
Debut producer Deepak Sawant said, "My film became star-studded the day Bachchan agreed to act in it. It is a clean film and I want audiences to go and see my film."
Produced under the banner of Daxna Films and directed by Abhishek Chaddha, the film boasts an impressive line-up of stars. In addition to Amitabh Bachchan, the film stars Hema Malini, Ravi Kishen, Nagma, Manoj Tiwari, Vijay Khare and Dev Joshan, among others.
Ashok Ghayal has composed the lyrics and the music. The choreography is by Saroj Khan, Ganesh Acharya and James Anthony. Additionally the action director is Raju Rao.
