Kareena Excited About Don
By Krishna Jewel | September 07, 2006
Kareena Excited About DonComparisons can be unwanted and unwarranted, but if you are working on a remake of a cult classic, such as Don, they will be inevitable.

Kareena Kapoor, who at 25 wasn't even born when the original was released in 1978, drew critical acclaim for her performance in Vishal Bhardwaj's recent Omkara. We will next see the young actress make a guest appearance for an item number in the Farhan Akhtar remake of Don, slated for a release this Diwali.

In the film Kareena takes up the role Helen played in the original, attempting to seduce the new Don (Shah Rukh Khan) with a dance sequence performed to a remixed Ye Mera Dil Pyar Ka Deewana, one of the two songs retained from the original film.

Speaking about her appearance, Kareena said, "Its great. I am nervous because I don't think I could ever match up to Helen aunty. What she has done is something else altogether and there is absolutely no comparison."

SRK and Kapoor were last seen together in Santosh Sivan's Asoka, after a five year gap she is excited about being paired opposite SRK once again.

Farah Khan did the choreography to music by Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy. In Chandra Barot's original, Asha Bhonsle was the playback singer for Helen. This time, the song was sung by Sunidhi Chauhan.

Comparisons are inevitable, let's hope this Don can stand up to them, and that the viewers and critics will be able to judge the film on it's own merits.
