
Following a legal notice issued by an NGO to actor Shah Rukh Khan for smoking in public, a case was filed against the actor in a court in Shahdol for allegedly promoting alcoholism by appearing in a liquor ad.
A case was also filed against the manufacturer of 'Master Stroke Delux Whisky', the brand endorsed by the film star.
Advertising any alcohol or tobacco-based product and its consumption in public places is banned in the country.
In a petition filed before Chief Judicial Magistrate Deepesh Tiwari, complainant Vinod Kumar Tripathi said he saw a hoarding of the whisky brand featuring Shah Rukh Khan with the tagline: "Success needs a master stroke".
The petitioner while filing the case demanded action against the actor for promoting alcoholism.
Only on Friday, National Organisation for Tobacco Eradication (NOTE) had issued a legal notice to the actor for smoking in public during two recent events.
