Verdicts for 'Goal' (44%),'OSO' (65%) and 'Saawariya' (46%), all eyes on 'Aaja Nachle'The verdicts are in for the three major releases of November thus far. First, last week's release, Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, met with mixed reactions with the critics and at the box office. With the critics, the film is at a 44%, which earns it a 'Below Average' tag. With 31 reviews in for the film, 9 have been positive, 7 have been average and the remaining 15 have been negative. Because of the film's sports theme, there were comparisons early on with Chak De India, however in terms of quality, Chak De India is far ahead as it had a 71%, garnering it a 'Very Good' tag. In Subhash K. Jha's review here at AllBollywood.com, Jha gave the film a 2.5 out of 5, noting that the film has a "neat blend of bite and bark in a game where the ball says it all". At the box office, the film has had mixed results. It is faring well at multiplexes, however has been average at single screens and poor overseas. For all news and reviews for Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, click here.

Despite both films having almost identical scores when early reviews came out, Farah Khan's Om Smanti Om has trumped Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya by a wide margin with both the critics and at the box office.

Saawariya is now at a 46%, which garners it a 'Below Average' tag. We now have 65 reviews of the film, of which the majority (41) are negative. Of the remaining reviews, 17 have been positive and 7 have been average. The film has failed at the box office as well, and is a loser in most circuits. For all news and reviews for Saawariya, click here.

On the other hand, Om Smanti Om continued to garner good reviews, lifting it's rating to a 65% which garners it a 'Good' tag and makes it the third best reviewed major release of the year behind Guru (72%) and Chak De India (71%), but slightly ahead of Jab We Met. Of all the releases of 2007 (includes major and minor films), OSO comes in at ninth place. For the top 20 reviewed films of 2007, click here. The film is also a huge hit at the box office, setting new records both domestically and internationally. For all news and reviews for Om Smanti Om, click here.

For the film's star, Shahrukh Khan, this is his second superhit of the year along with Chak De India (71%). This should make Khan an easy choice for our Star of the Year (which will be announced here in January), however he does face competition from Akshay Kumar. If Kumar's Welcome (releasing on December 21st) becomes a hit, that would make a very impressive year for Kumar. Past AllBollywood.com Star of the Year winners include Hrithik Roshan in 2006 (Aamir Khan was first runner up and Kajol was second) and Amitabh Bachchan in 2005 (Rani Mukherji was first runner up and Abhishek Bachchan was second).

All eyes are now on Madhuri Dixit's comeback film Aaja Nachle, produced by Yash-Raj films, which releases tomorrow. The film is Anit Mehta's debut as a director, who has mostly worked as a cinematographer. The film also stars Akshaye Khanna, Konkona Sen Sharma and Kunal Kapoor, although all the advertising has been centered around Dixit alone. The film is expected to get a good start as it is Dixit's first film in 5 years, since Devdas in 2002. We will start adding reviews for the film as they come in, so make sure to keep checking this space over the next several hours. Meanwhile, for all news for Aaja Nachle, click here.
