'Salaam-E-Ishq' opens with disappointing reviews, 'Guru' continues to impressThe much hyped Salaam-E-Ishq opened today to disappointing reviews. The huge multistarrer, featuring notable biggies like Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Akshaye Khanna, John Abraham and Govinda is currently at a 49% with 16 reviews in. Of the 16 critics reviews, 10 are negative and only 6 are positive. Stay tuned to this area as we will have many more reviews for Salaam-E-Ishq coming in over the weekend.

The general consensus seems to be that the film is too long (it clocks in at over 3.5 hours) and that none of the stories in the film strike a chord. Our own review of the film by Akshay Shah has Shah saying that "despite some sparks of brilliance as well as some really enjoyable performances from the actors and extremely lilting musical numbers, one can’t help but feel disappointed". The other somewhat major release, Risk, looks to be a loser both with the critics and at the box office. With the critics it is at a 41%, which is "Below Average" and borderline "Bad" (which is below a 40%). Out of 25 critics reviews, only 4 (16%) were positive. Meanwhile, Guru continues to impress both at the box office and with critics. We now have 57 critics reviews of the film, and of that 57, 54 (or 95%) are positive. Meanwhile, it is at a 72% with critics which gives it a verdict of "Very Good" from the critics, one of very few films to do that over the past several years.
