Saturday night at the 13th annual Star Screen Awards, heartthrob Hrithik Roshan won Best Actor for his superhero role in Krrish. Kareena Kapoor walked away with Best Actress for Omkara at the Hero Honda Star Screen Awards.Best Film went to Raj Kumar Hirani's Lage Raho Munnabhai, while Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra walked away with the Best Director award for Rang De Basanti.
Best Supporting Actor went to funny man Arshad Warsi for Circuit in Lage Raho Munnabhai and Kirron Kher received Best Supporting Actress for her powerful performance in Rang De Basanti.
Later, Arshad told a TV channel that so far he had been rather unlucky in regard to awards, and is extremely happy about getting this trophy. He thanked Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan and their company ABCL for giving him his first break as an actor in Tere Mere Sapne.
Saif Ali Khan bagged the Best Actor In A Negative Role award for his role as Langda Tyagi in Omkara and Shreyas Talpade the best comic actor award for Dor.
Once again, noted songwriter Gulzar walked away with the Best Lyricist award and Sunidhi Chauhan won Best Playback Singer Female, both for the popular Bidee item number in Omkara.
There were performances by some of the top actors in the industry such as Bipasha Basu, who had danced to the rustic number Bidee, Kareena jived to Ye Mera Dil from Don and Helen, the dancing queen of Bollywood, was so touched by Kareenas performance, she came on stage and appreciated her performance. Salman Khan and Shahid Kapur, who is suffering with a sprained neck, were the other star performers.
Lage Raho Munnabhai scored once again with the Best Story award going to Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijit Joshi. Siddharth, who appeared in Rang De Basanti, won the Best Newcomer Male award and Kangana Ranaut was honoured with Best Newcomer Female for Gangster - A Love Story.
Sanjay Dutt and Ayesh Takia were given the Best Critics Award (male and female) for their performances in Lage Raho Munna Bhai and Dor respectively.
Apart from Best Director, Rang De Basanti also won Best Screenplay, Best Background Music for A.R. Rahman, Best Special Effects and Best Editing Award.
