London: While Rang De Basanti lost out in the race for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards, its star of the film, Aamir Khan, says he is not disappointed.CNN-IBN correspondent Akanksha Banerji managed to catch up with the actor on the red carpet before the awards and asked him if he had watched any of the other foreign entries Rang De Basanti (RDB) was up against.
Akanksha Banerji: Have you watched any of the other foreign entries that RDB is pitted against?
Aamir Khan: I have not had the opportunity of seeing the other four films because I have been busy filming my own film. But I'm happy to be in good company.
Akanksha Banerji: You're also presenting an award tonight. Which one is that?
Aamir Khan: I'm presenting an award for Outstanding Contribution to British cinema.
Akanksha Banerji: Are you disappointed on losing out on the Oscar race?
Aamir Khan: Not really. Like I said earlier, I don't take these things too seriously. And for me what is of prime importance is the audience for whom we make the film. And RDB has had a fantastic response, not just in India but audiences all over the world have loved it. So I am really happy about it. And when platforms like Oscars, BAFTA or Golden Globe recognise the film, then it makes me happy.
Akanksha Banerji: You have already won your Oscar with the response from RDB...
Aamir Khan: Yes. From the audience.
Akanksha Banerji: Thank you for talking to us.
Aamir Khan: Thank you.
