'Eklavya' opens to impressive reviews
By Raj Giri | February 16, 2007
'Eklavya' opens to impressive reviewsEklavya opened today to impressive reviews. The multi starrer, which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Vidya Balan, Sanjay Dutt and Boman Irani marks Vidhu Vinod Chopra's return to directing after a 7 year gap, currently is at a 71%, which is very good. It has 15 reviews so far, of which 13 are positive.

If it holds at this level, it would make it the fourth Bollywood film of 2007 to crack 70%, joining Black Friday (80%), Parzania (74%) and Guru (72%) and it's only February. In 2006, only 3 films were able to top 70% ( Lage Raho Munnabhai, Rang De Basanti and Dor) while in 2005, only 2 films were able to top 70% ( Black and Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi ).

The general consensus for the film is that it is very good, and features outstanding performances from Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan, however the ending is a bit of a letdown. Some reviews have gone so far as to call it one of the best films put out by Bollywood.

Our own Akshay Shah calls Eklavya a 'MUST-SEE on every level, and though the flaws that are there do stand out it’s because the rest of the movie is close to perfection'. For Shah's review of Eklavya, click here. For all other critics reviews and news on the film, click here.
