'The Flag' - Period Film For Ashmit Patel Seems Ashmit Patel is following in the footsteps of Aamir Khanat the moment in that the actor has signed a period film called The Flag, to be directed by Sajiv Balath, who is a documentary filmmaker.

The film is set in 1940's, toward the end of the British Raj period and will be shot in Bhuj, the same location where Lagaan was shot.

Speaking about the film, Ashmit says, "It is a serious film based in the 1940's. The story is about a village called Kanakpur which is pretty much cut off and oblivious from happenings in the country. The British then arrive and how things change in the village."

In the film, Ashmit plays the role of a patriotic character named Deva. As part of his characterisation, he will be seen in dhotis and other traditional Indian wear of that time.

The cast and the crew of the film went to Bhuj earlier this week, filming started on Thursday, the 1st of March.

The film also stars Rahul Dev, Vijay Raaz, Milind Soman.
