The actor is presently in London, shooting for Vivek Agnihotri's sports film Goal in which he plays a footballer.

Prior to shooting, John and his co-star Arshad Warsi underwent rigorous football training under the guidance of former English Premiere league footballer Andy Ansah.

Now with the shooting underway, John's footballing skills are certainly being put to test because eight of the eleven players in his team in the film are actual football players and John has to stand out from them because of his role in the film.

Nevertheless, John is not intimidated by the presence of real footballers on his team. John says he is "overexcited" while shooting the film. Football is his favourite sport and he has been playing it since childhood. He is quite skilled in dribbling, nudging and kicking the ball.
