So Far Not So Good

So Far Not So GoodSo far not so good this year for Vikram Bhatt.

First, Red did not fair too well at the box office and now the same is true of Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee.

Spawning one to ask, what went wrong Vikram?

"The general feedback has been positive," said Vikram of the box-office outcome, "Nobody's told me that Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee is a bad film. The problem, as I see it, is that the communication wasn't right. The promos gave an indication that it was a campus film. A fun film on the lines of Khel Khel Mein. But what people ended up watching was a complete contrast. It was a serious film highlighting a serious issue."

"The reason why Bheja Fry found an audience and Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee didn't is because they [Bheja Fry] were very clear in their promotion. 'We'll make you laugh' was the specific signal that this film sent out to viewers, while our film sent out confusing signals. One promo gave an impression that it was a fun film, the next promised to make you emotional. It was confusing," Vikram adds.

When it was put to him that a section of the industry strongly feels that the actors [while they have delivered fine performances] are not hot at the box-office, which reflects clearly in the business of the film, he replies, "I don't want to comment on this issue. I stand by them," in defends his choice of actors.

However, Vikram has decided to start his next projects on a fresh note. "I've two more films lined up for release -- Harry Baweja's Speed and Ramesh Sippy's Fear. I've decided to take stock of the situation before I sign any new film. I've been shooting non-stop for the past few years. I don't want to sign any film till I firmly decide what I want to make next," he reveals.
