Dadasaheb Phalke Award Honours Dilip Kumar On 30th April, legendary thespian Dilip Kumar will be the recipient of Phalke Ratna Award. This prestigious award will be presented to him by Dadasaheb Phalke Academy at Bhaidas Auditorium, Vile Parle.

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is an annual award given by the Indian government for lifetime contribution to Indian cinema. It was instituted in 1969, the birth centenary year of Dhundiraj Govind Phalke who is considered the founder of the Indian Film Industry.

Dadasaheb Phalke Academy is the august body of the film industry and 36 cine associations are in affiliation with it.

55 seniors [from labor to legend] will be honored with Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards in celebration of the 138th birth anniversary of Dadasaheb Phalke.

Legendary artists Jeetendra, Shashikala, Aruna Irani, Beena Rai, Kumkum, Sushila Rani Patel, director Lekh Tandon, producers Rajkumar Barjatya and Kamal Kumar Barjatya are among the recipients. Many technicians, distributors and exhibitors will also be honored.
