Shilpa Shetty Has Not Been Told Not To Leave India
By Krishna Jewel | April 27, 2007
Shilpa Shetty Has Not Been Told Not To Leave India Shilpa Shetty's spokesman, Dale Bhagwagar, clarified that the star had not received an order or summons from a district court in Rajasthan telling her not to leave India.

This statement was made in response to a report in a section of the media on Sunday claiming Alwar district court in Rajasthan had requested Shilpa not leave the country until it decides on the petition filed against her by two advocates.

Certain lawyers from various parts of the country have filed cases against Shilpa after Richard Gere pecked her on the cheek at an event to promote AIDS awareness(terming them as 'obscene kisses').

A report quoted a police official from Jaipur as saying, "If proven guilty, Gere and Shetty could be sentenced to six years imprisonment," which Bhagwagar described as amateur and frivolous on the part of a government official to state that someone can get jailed for pecks on the cheek.

"If that is the case, more than half the country will have to be jailed," quipped Bhagwagar.

Shilpa, who is not currently in Mumbai, will be returning by the end of the week, he stated.
