A while back it was reported that Rang De Basanti director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and UTV have joined hands to produce four films with the total budget being Rs. 280 crores.

The collection of films to be directed by Mehra includes Paanch Kaurav [which is a trilogy] as well as Dilli-6, which is based on Mehra's years growing up in the vibrant Chandni Chowk area of New Delhi.

On the subject of Dilli-6, the casting has been a hot topic ever since Mehra officially announced the project.

Mehra had initially approached Hrithik Roshan for the lead, then Abhishek Bachchan, and later Akshay Kumar as well. Then it was recently reported that Mehra had finally confirmed Siddharth [one of the leads in Rang De Basanti] for the role in question.

"It's completely untrue," Mehra clarified, "I haven't signed Siddharth for the film. In fact, I haven't signed anyone so far. The media keeps planting someone every alternate week." He was then asked if he had approached Akshay Kumar again? "Not at all! I guess, the media knows more about my film than I do," laughed the director.
