'Sathyam' - a disappointing fare
By IANS | August 15, 2008
Film: "Sathyam"; Cast: Vishal, Nayanthara; Director: A. Rajasekhar; Music Director: Harris Jayaraj; Cinematography: R.D. Rajasekhar"Sathyam" - a much-hyped bilingual starring Vishal and Nayanthara - looks and sounds like a badly made movie.

The main protagonist, a police officer called "Sathyam" (Vishal), chases two politicians out to succeed an ailing chief minister of an imaginary state.

The killer turns out to be a former cop, played by Kannada star Upendra, disgusted with the system acting at the behest of another political aspirant.

After a nauseating diet of tomato ketchup passing for blood, this 135-minute tepid attempt at rehashing decades old hits of director Rajasekhar and actress Vijayashanti triggers a mad urge to rush to the exit.

Vishal falls flat playing a top policeman flaunting six pack abs. Nayanthara plays a television journalist who breaks into song at the drop of a hat.

For music, it seems composer Harris Jayaraj had lost interest in the movie so did cinematographer R.D. Rajasekhar and editor Anthony.
