Nishikant Kamat's Mumbai Meri Jaan has turned out to be a surprise, similar to Khuda Ke Liye earlier this year. The film is currently at a 65%, which earns it a B+ and makes it the fourth best reviewed film of the year so far behind Khuda Ke Liye, Jodhaa Akbar and Jaane Tu... The same didn't hold true for the other new releases. Sanjay Chhel's Maan Gaye Mughall-E-Azam was a disaster with the critics, scoring only a D- (30%). Ram Gopal Varma still remains all over the place with his films. His latest horror film - Phoonk - started out with some impressive reviews but fell significantly once more came in. The film is currently at a C- with a 49%. Of the 15 reviews counted for the film's grade, 5 have been positive, 2 have been average and the remaining 8 have been negative. That is substantially better than his last release, Contract which scored a D- (64%), although it's much worse than his first release this year, Sarkar Raj (B, 63%). The final new release was the worst reviewed film of the year so far, My Friend Ganesha 2. Most reviewers stayed away from the film, but the four reviews in for the film are disastrous.
