'Black' best film of 2005, more international acclaim for 'Black'
Black is the best reviewed Hindi film of 2005, followed by Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Parineeta, Sarkar and Iqbal. Hindi film reviewers aren't the only ones who loved Sanjay Leela Bhansali's emotional story of a blind and deaf girl and her relationship with her teacher. As we mentioned earlier in the week, Time magazine named it one of the top 10 movies of the year. And just recently, The Charlotte Observer has it as their # 1 movie of the year, ranking it ahead of the U.S.'s Good Night, and Good Luck (which incidentally is favored to win the Oscar for Best Picture). It makes you wonder if Black may have been able to grab the Best Foreign Film award if it were our submission for the Oscars. Please note that our rankings of the best reviewed Hindi films of the year aren't based on our opinions, but from ranking all the critics reviews for all the major releases of 2005.
