He dresses like, copies the mannerisms of and his alias - Baba Sanjay - well that too is based on the man, he even bears a close resemblance to Sanju Baba. He is Jamil Haji Abdul Jabbar Shaikh Jamil, one of the 10 Dawood Ibrahim men deported from Dubai.

"Jamil became a diehard fan of Sanjay Dutt after he saw Rocky. He was most inspired by Dutt's performance in Vaastav, and started copying him," said a Crime Branch official on the condition of anonymity. "He started wearing expensive Pathani suits, and gelled his hair. He used to threaten businessmen saying, Sanju Baba bol raha hoon, maal pohocha dena (Sanju Baba speaking, deliver the money as I say)."

For four years, Jamil worked in Shams Company in Temkar Mohalla, Nagpada from 1982 to 1986. He handled the hawala operations of the gang at the order of Chhota Shakeel. He then went to Dubai and joined the extortion wing of the D-Company in 1990. Jamil has seven cases of extortion - all in 1988 - registered against his name at Pydhonie, MRA, Cuff Parade, DN Nagar, RAK Marg, Nirmal Nagar and and Bandra police stations. Crime Branch sources said that on the behest of Anwar (brother of Chhota Shakeel), Jamil had threatened at least 25 businessmen.
