Mumbai: 12th December was suppose to see the film industry go on strike in support of Sanjay Dutt, however that was called off. The signature campaign in support of Sanjay Dutt was initiated by Suniel Shetty wherein the entire film industry would be on a one day strike and sign petition in support of Sanjay Dutt.
When Sanjay Dutt got wind of this initiative by the film industry on his behalf, he became very emotional and began crying. He then wrote a letter to Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA), thanking everyone for this gesture towards him but asked everyone to withdraw the strike and the campaign.
In the letter Sanjay wrote, "When I heard that the film industry and its associations have decided to sign a letter in my support, it brought tears to my eyes and emotionally moved my sister and me, especially since none of the Dutt family members were told of this. We were kept totally in the dark about this campaign. My sister and I have been taken aback by this gesture. I humbly thank everyone and request them to withdraw their signature campaign on 12 December 2006. The rest is in God's hands. Like I have always said and I repeat, I have full faith in our Indian judiciary. The law will take its own course. Pray for me."
