A visibly upset Vikram Bhatt is blaming the lukewarm response to Ankahee on wrong projection of the film. It seems the whole world is saying that the just-released Ankahee is the story of director Vikram Bhatt's relationship with Sushmita Sen, although the director himself has denied it; and who would know better, the director or outsiders?
Now, he's convinced that the wrong projection of the film has caused problems for the film which has opened to a poor response.
"Audiences expected something tantalising, perhaps a peep into my past love life. But it's a film about infidelity from the man's point of view," says Vikram.
It has been pointed out that there are also strong similarities to Mahesh Bhatt's Arth. "How can I help it if Bhatt Saab and I have had similar lives? He too left his wife, had a rocky relationship and has a daughter.
I don't know how much of his life went into Arth. But Ankahee is certainly not meant to be reflective of any episode of my life."
It has been said some people are deriding the casting. "I worked with the stars who were available to me and I'm happy with what they've done."
The poor response to Ankahee has dampened Vikram's spirit. "Should I just make a raunchy comedy with Himesh Reshammiya's music? Or should I do the cinema that comes from my heart?"
