Saif's taking a break
By Krishna Jewel | September 10, 2006
Saif's taking a breakSaif is planning a much needed and much deserved break. The actor wants to spend time with his children and is also planning to join a rock band.

Saif Ali Khan's career might be on the right track, with the actor receiving accolades for his performances in films like Salaam Namaste, Parineeta and now Omkara, but on the personal front, he feels he has just no time to enjoy life.

Therefore he has decided to take a break from the 'maddening crowd'. Come October, Saif is going on a three-month sabbatical from films. Once he returns from his New York shoot for Tara Rum Pum with Rani Mukherji, he is going 'underground'.

"I needed this break very badly. I am not getting time to spend with my family. My children have always been asking me to spend time with them. I want to be with them, to do things that will make them happy," he says fondly, adding, "They are growing up, and tomorrow, suddenly I might realise that I couldn't give them enough time. And I don't want that to happen," says an emotional Saif.

However, Saif won't be spending those three months sitting around at home 'chillin', oh no, think again. Saif certainly has plans.

"I have so much to sort out during this time — the dates for my shows, the commercials I'll be endorsing and the various scripts that are lying in my house. God, there's so much to do and so little time!" he laments.

Speaking of time, it was just a few months ago Saif, who is a fine guitarist, was rocking at a concert in Delhi, where he performed on the guitar and belted tunes like 'Highway to Hell', 'Roadhouse Blues' and 'Johnny B Good'.

After the concert, rock band Parikrama invited him to join their band.

Now rumours are rife that he just may join the band while he is on his break from films. "There's no concrete plan as such. I am an actor first and only if time permits, I will fulfil my other passions. Let's see.

It would be interesting though. I may think about it. It's actually a long-cherished dream to be part of a band. I've always wanted to play the guitar on stage," says the actor who's been learning to play the instrument for some years now.

It is indeed an interesting thought, let's hope its one he will entertain.
