Last weeks releases failed to impress with both the critics and at the box office. Dus Kahaniyaan has fallen slightly to a 52% (with 32 critic reviews) which is 'Average' while Khoya Khoya Chand is at a 46%, which is 'Below Average'. Both films have failed at the box office.
All eyes are now on the two huge releases for next week, Taare Zameen Par and Welcome.
Welcome should have a slight advantage with it's opening as it has a massive starcast led by the red hot Akshay Kumar and also starring Feroz Khan, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar and Katrina Kaif. If the film is a hit, it would be Kumar's fourth hit in a row for 2007 along with Heyy Babyy (58%), Namastey London (56%) and Bhool Bhulaiyaa (52%) and would make him Shahrukh Khan's biggest threat to win 2007's Star Of The Year (for a recent article on whether Shahrukh or Akshay should get that honor, click here).
Taare Zameen Par is also eagerly awaited as it's Aamir Khan's directoral debut, and also his first starrer since 2006's super hits Rang De Basanti (77%) and Fanaa (60%). The film also stars Tanay Chheda, Darsheel Safary, Tisca Chopra and Sachet Engineer.
The one area where Taare Zameen Par has a major advantage over Welcome it's with it's soundtrack. The soundtrack for Taare Zameen Par is at a 71%, which is 'Very Good' and ranks in the top 5 of our top soundtracks for 2007 (for the top music of 2007, click here). In Subhash K. Jha's review of the soundtrack here at AllBollywood.com, Jha stated that the soundtrack offered "simple and melodious music" and gave the soundtrack 3 stars.
