'Aaja Nachle' (49%) a setback, all eyes on 'Dus Kahaniyaan' and 'KKC'

'Aaja Nachle' (49%) a setback, all eyes on 'Dus Kahaniyaan' and 'KKC'The bad year for Yash Raj Films continued as they had yet another setback with their latest production, Aaja Nachle. They had a record number of releases for their production house this year, however only Chak De India (71%) has hit the bulls eye at the box office. Meanwhile, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag (44%), Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (50%) and Ta Ra Rum Pum (57%) all fell, both critically and financially.

The writing was on the wall even before the film released. While Yash Raj Films has usually been known to have excellent music for their films, and you would think a film with the word Nachle in the title would have excellent music, the reviews for the soundtrack were very average with a 58%, barely making the top 20 soundtracks of the year (placing at #20).

Aaja Nachle is currently at a 49%, which is 'Below Average' and very disappointing for Mahuri Dixit's comeback venture. With 36 reviews now in for the film, 10 have been positive, 9 have been average and 17 have been negative. Almost all the reviews have praised Dixit while panning the film, and the film would have likely scored much lower if not for Dixit's presence. All eyes are on this Friday's releases, Dus Kahaniyaan and Khoya Khoya Chand.

Dus Kahaniyaan stars a myriad of stars including Sanjay Dutt, Bipasha Basu, Sunil Shetty, Esha Deol, Nana Patekar, Neha Uberoi, Vidya Balan, Manoj Bajpai, Jimmy Shergill, Shabana Azmi, Arjun Rampal, Soha Ali Khan, Vivek Oberoi and Tanushree Datta amongst others and has a very impressive soundtrack (which is rated at a 75%). The film also has 6 directors in Hansal Mehta, Meghna Gulzar, Sanjay Gupta, Rohit Roy, Apoorva Lakhia and Jasmeet Dhodi. Typically films with multiple directors haven't done well, with Trimurti and Darna Zaroori Hai (47%) immediately coming to mind. However, this film has White Feather Films as it's production house and is leaving no stone unturned in promoting the film. For all news for the film which releases this Friday, click here.

Meanwhile Khoya Khoya Chand has a much tamer cast with Shiny Ahuja and Soha Ali Khan, with Sudhir Mishra directing. Mishara's last film, 2005's Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi (70%) also starring Shiny Ahuja, was the second best reviewed film of 2005 behind Black (79%). For all news for the film, click here.

Here's hoping that both films perform well at the ticket stiles. Make sure to keep checking this space often as reviews for Dus Kahaniyaan and Khoya Khoya Chand start coming in.
