It is well known that Amitabh Bachchan has always hated wearing artificial beards for his films.

However, when Big B began preparing for his role in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Eklavya, the filmmaker asked the star to grow a real beard, but since Amitabh had other projects on the cards, so he opted for the artificial beard.

Well, the superstarha to sit through numerous sessions in which several kinds of beards were tried on him. However, Chopra is a perfectionist. At times he would find the beard too long, or he would find the colour unsatisfactory. After nearly two months of trial and error sessions, the filmmaker finally settled on the beard we see Big B wear in Eklavya.

Unfortunately, that was not the end of Bachchan's woes. The star was "very uncomfortable" during the filming of his scenes due to the gum which is used to stick the beard on, as it was restricting his facial expressions.

"Once you stick on the beard with gum it just restricts your facial movements and irritates you. And you lose your facial movement," Amitabh is quoted as saying.

However, Big B stuck out the discomfort and, in Chopra’s words, played his part to perfection.

However, Bachchan extracted a promise from Chopra that if he makes Big B wear a beard in his next film, then Chopra too would have to wear one.
