Anurag Basu's forthcoming Metro will have a different kind of premiere om 11 May - online, the day the film is released the worldwide.
It seems to premiere the latest films on the Internet, simultaneously with their release in cinema halls, is fast becoming envogue with the Bollywood set. Following the net premiere of Sooraj Barjatya's
Vivah and Milan Luthria's
Hat Trick, it is now the turn of Shilpa Shetty and Shiney Ahuja-starrer
Metro.
According to agency reports, Metro will premiere on rajshri.com. Where the trend of premiering premium Bollywood films online started with the release home production Vivah simultaneously online with the film's theatrical release.
"We are delighted to announce the online premiere of UTV's eagerly anticipated film, Life In A...METRO on May 11 alongside its worldwide theatrical release," says Rajshri Media managing director Rajjat Barjatya.
The online release of Basu's Life In A Metro, deals with "the thrills and shrills" of being a metro citizen, is viewed as a move on part of the UTV to reach the International audience, including South Asians settled in various parts of the globe, which is in keeping with the film's universal theme that cuts across international barriers.
"With the online premiere of Life In A Metro we are mainly targeting the south Asian diaspora," UTV senior vice president marketing and communication, Siddharth Roy Kapur says.
The film features Shilpa Shetty, Shiney Ahuja, Kay Kay Menon Konkona, Sen Sharma Irrfan Khan, Sharman Joshi and Kangana Ranaut.
