Last Friday saw the release of three major films, with
Apne,
Awarapan, and
Aap Ka Surroor - The Moviee all releasing on the same day.
Of the three,
Apne and
Awarapan are neck in neck with the critics while
Aap Ka Surroor - The Moviee trails both badly. However, at the box office the trend is reversed.
With the critics, both Apne and Awarapan are at a 51% with the critics, which is 'Average'. Apne is very slightly ahead of Awarapan as it's average rating is a 2.56 out of 5, as opposed to 2.53 out of 5 for Awarapan. Aap Ka Surroor - The Moviee is way behind with a 40%, which is 'Below Average' and borderline 'Bad' (below a 40% gives it a 'Bad' tag).
For Apne, we have 27 critics reviews in so far, with 13 of them being positive, 5 average and 9 negative. With Awarapan we have 20 reviews, of which 6 are positive, 9 are average and the remaining 5 are negative. With Aap Ka Surroor - The Moviee, we have 27 reviews counted of which only 4 are positive, 4 are negative and the remaining 19 are negative.
However, at the box office it is Aap Ka Surroor - The Moviee that surprised everyone with the strongest opening of the three films, opening at a 75-80% with some smaller circuits getting a 90% +. According to BoxOfficeIndia, Apne took a very good opening in the North with East Punjab being 90%+ and Delhi/UP and Rajasthan registering around 75-80%. However, the rest of the country was around 40-60%. Meanwhile, Awarapan opened to a poor response of 20-30%.
