One of the most anticipated films of the year, Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag opened to a disastrous response today with a 25% with critics (which is 'Very Bad') and is currently the worst reviewed film of the year, slightly behind Marigold (25%). With 22 reviews in for the film already, the film currently has no good reviews as all 22 reviews have been negative, which is the first time in years that has happened for a major release. The general consensus of the film is that all the fun in the original has been taken out of this film and the performances, for the most part, are poor. The lone exceptions are Amitabh Bachchan, who has been praised in most reviews, which is saying a lot as he had the hardest job with taking the role based on the iconic Gabbar Singh, originally played by Amjad Khan. Mohanlal has also received a lot of credit for his performance. How one wishes the performances of Bachchan and Mohanlal could have been saved for another film.

Meanwhile, the other new releases also fared rather poorly, albeit better than Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag. The first, also a remake of a classic, was Victoria No. 203, is currently at a 32% which is also 'Very Bad'.
