Priyanka Dyeing For Her Career
Priyanka Dyeing For Her CareerIts common for our actors and actresses to make small changes to suit a character, be it a change of hairstyle or wearing a wig, an actor donning a moustache or of late buffing up for a role...but what hasn't been common to Indian Cinema is lager changes in ones appearance, unlike Hollywood.

Perhaps Priyanka Chopra will pave the way in Hindi Cinema for Indian actors and actresses' to follow the example of their Hollywood counterparts in daring to change their look in order to immerse themselves in the character with her role in Harry Baweja’s long-awaited sci-fi thriller Love Story 2050.

Priyanka plays a double role in the film – great for her legions of fans – one dark-haired and one with dark cherry-red hair, as a result she dyed her hair twice for each colour.

"We spent more than six months trying to figure out the right look," says Baweja speaking of Priyanka’s stunning new look, the brainchild of Harry Baweja, make-up maestro Mickey Contractor and hair stylist Thea.

“The idea was to have a look that people could imagine and relate to in future. We didn’t want them resembling aliens or looking as if they’ve landed from Star Trek. The film is set in the future but it’s not about space travel. It took us six months to zero in on the final look.” Carrying the tagline, “When Love is Eternal Even God Bends the Rules”, Love Story 2050 is one of Bollywood’s most expensive films to date and is set to be this summer’s big blockbuster. Boman Irani plays a mad scientist who invents a time machine, which transports Priyanka and Harman to the future. They land in a futuristic Mumbai that has flying cars, holograms, robots and Indian ninjas.

"The biggest challenge was to push the boundaries of Fashion and take it 40 years forward without losing the essence of the characters and keeping them in the believable zone at the same time," Thea explains.

This is a first in the Hindi film industry for an actor to dye their hair to a totally different colour ...usually they wear wigs or use earth tones and colours which are closer to their natural colour.

The film stars Priyanka Chopra, introduces Harman Baweja and Boman Irani, Archana Pooran Singh, Dalip Tahil, and Shishir Saxena.

Priyanka's cherry-red haired avatar and Love Story 2050 both premire on 4th July 2008.
